Devotional: Worn Out But Not Forsaken
Devotional:
Does any one else ever feel worn down by life, discouraged in our calling, discouraged in finding your calling, or tempted to give up? Do people and circumstances just wear you out and crush your soul? You want others to humble themselves before the Lord, so badly. You want them to SEE he is the reason they live and breathe. Every moment we are either completely reliant on him or we are in rebellion. We put way too much stock in our ideas, thoughts, and opinions. It is, in God’s eyes, a form of prostitution and idolatry when we do that. We get weary and worn out by all of the craziness around us. We want good things for people, I know that is my heart. Too many have what 2 Timothy 3:5 speaks of: They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! – WHEW…this is a dangerous mindset.
God calls us to unconditional surrender and total humility. That means we speak and act with no arrogance, no pride, no selfish agenda, no rudeness or haughtiness, and no form of deception. We live because HE allows us to live. We should all be in awe of that fact every single day. Often, as his followers, we are misunderstood by those that we love, care about, and minister to. Knowing we all battle this from time to time, I wanted to dig into biblical examples. I want us to see that we are not alone. As the spiritual war rages all around us and the evil one fights against us…God’s Word shows us we are not alone. He is faithful to meet us right where we are. So, if you are feeling the weight of the battle. If you are tired, feel things that are off, and realize it’s something only God can fix…you are not alone. The Lord was more than gracious in giving us examples of some mighty warriors that…like us, were only human as well. Let’s draw strength and wisdom from them, and encourage ourselves in the Lord. I pray you can use this to encourage your heart, soul, and mind today!! Be encouraged to keep fighting the good fight of faith in Christ Jesus!!!!

Reflection Questions:
- Which of these stories feels most like your own?
- What “But God” moment do you need in your life right now?
- Can you trust that God hasn’t forgotten you—even if you feel weary?
Memory Verse:
2 Corinthians 4:8–9 (NIV)
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
Prayer:
God, I am tired. But I know You are still with me. Just like You met Moses, Elijah, and so many others in their weakest places, meet me now. Remind me who You are, and who I am in You. I trust You will carry me through.
Closing Encouragement: Even when your strength runs out, God’s doesn’t. His grace meets you in your lowest place—not to shame you, but to restore you. Don’t give up. You are never alone.
Blessings to YOU,
Cassandra Lee
