Daily Devotional

Scripture: Matthew 6:22–23
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness.”

Psalm 119:37 “Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.”

Focus, Focus, Focus! Is your mind cluttered? Are you struggling to stay focused on God’s truth?
An undisciplined mind is like a pair of glasses with dirty, smudged lenses. You can’t see clearly. Your view is distorted, and your focus is off.

A Real-Life Reminder About Focus

One day, I grabbed my reading glasses and noticed they were dirty. I gave them a quick wipe, but this time, it didn’t work. The lenses were completely blurred. Everything I looked at was distorted. I couldn’t see clearly at all. I needed something more powerful to clean them.

That’s when I felt the Lord nudge me. I took a photo of those cloudy lenses. Nothing was clear—just a blur. Then I cleaned them properly and snapped another picture. This time? Crystal clear.

Spiritual Clarity Starts with Surrender

Walking with Christ requires clear vision. But lies, distractions, and half-truths blur our focus. This world warps our ability to see Jesus clearly. Even “good” things—if they’re not God’s will—can lead us astray.

When we focus on what isn’t from God, we drift. Sometimes it’s slow, sometimes it’s instant. And if we ignore it, our spiritual vision fades.

Sin Blurs Our View of Christ

We may try to cover it up. A quick apology, a little excuse. Anything to try and get past it or sweep it under the rug. But sin distorts. Eventually, it clouds everything.

Unchecked sin leads to anger, bitterness, defensiveness, and spiritual blindness. And before we know it, we’re walking in darkness—unable to see the Lord at all.

What’s Blocking Your View?

Are you prioritizing things above God? Sneaky sins like gossip, pride, manipulation, or consuming worldly garbage will cloud or shift your focus.

Every thought, every step, every decision matters. The way we live shapes our spiritual eyesight. We can keep feeding on the slop of the world…or we can turn to God for a full cleansing and renewed vision. How we live our lives will determine our FOCUS and how well we see, or don’t see, Jesus. We will choose to make decisions that will leave us blinded by this world. We can continue to consume the slop of this world and deal with the consequences. Or we can allow our vision to be cleared up by God’s word, and his truth. Every
choice, every thought, every step matters to him. The choices we make will determine how we see Jesus, it all depends on our focus.

Let’s choose to see. Let’s choose to clear up our spiritual vision. And clear out anything that will keep our focus from being on Jesus. Spiritual lenses clear, eyes fixed on HIM!!!

Devotional Scripture Focus:

Hebrews 12:1-2
“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Philippians 3:15
“All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.”

Blessings to YOU,
