Daily Devotional

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

We live in a seeing is believing world, but Jesus has called us to a believing is seeing kind of faith. We are to be in this world, but not of it (John 17:14). That just means we live here temporarily—our permanent address is in heaven.

Because these jars of clay contain the very Spirit of God—the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave—we are called to operate from a kingdom mindset. This means aligning everything we think, say, do, listen to, and view with heaven’s perspective.

Faith in Action: Learning from the Heroes of Faith

Hebrews 11:1 is a powerful faith verse. It brings hope into the lives of God’s people. It gives us a clue—something to imitate. The heroes of faith lived with determination and steadfastness. They trusted God in impossible circumstances.

This “Hall of Faith” includes Abel, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Samson, and David. They held on to a hope that was grounded in the unseen and walked out their faith with confidence.

True Faith: From Belief to Trust

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. It is trusting in something you cannot immediately prove. Human intellect often seeks to approve something as true before trusting it. But real faith steps in before the proof shows up.

Some may intellectually agree with Jesus’ teachings and the wisdom of the Bible. But that is not the same as a surrendered faith. It’s like recognizing a chair is built to hold weight—but never sitting in it. A trusting faith sits down—no hesitation. It’s not enough to admit God exists. We must fully trust and surrender to Him. Hebrews 11:6 tells us:
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Even the demons believe God exists and tremble (James 2:19). Belief, without trust and obedience, isn’t enough. We are called to co-labor with Him, to sit in the chair, and to live teachable and surrendered.

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of what we cannot see.

John 20:29
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Hebrews 11:7
