Scripture: Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him…”

Nothing in our lives is random or meaningless. This one can be tough to navigate, but we have to remember to: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones…Proverbs 3:5-8. God orchestrates every detail according to His sovereign will. Even in allowing hardships, He is working for our ultimate good. He has foreknowledge – knowing the end from the beginning, he is, after all, the Alpha and Omega.

EVERYTHING, in his realm, where he resides, is already done. You and I see life in moment by moment snippets, like a parade passing by, we only see what is in our limited view…he sees it in its entirety. Even our trips, stumbles, and sin have been factored into his plan since he is outside of time he sees the beginning and the end and holds it ALL in his providential hand. Trust that His plan is greater than what we can see and rest in His perfect wisdom.

From Genesis to Revelation, we see God’s sovereignty in action. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. Now, we would definitely see this as not being anywhere near ideal, right? Yet God used his circumstances to grow, develop, and prepare Joseph so he could use him to save an entire nation. Job endured incredible suffering, but God ultimately restored him, restoring back to him more than he had before. He led the Israelites to the edge of the sea, allowing them to “seem” trapped as Pharaoh and his army pursued them…knowing he would deliver them by parting the Red Sea. They walked across that sea bed on “dry” ground just before that same sea swallowed up Pharaoh’s army. NOTHING escapes him…NOTHING. Even Jesus’ crucifixion, which seemed like defeat, was part of God’s divine plan for redemption. Every trial, every challenge, and every unexpected turn in your life is known by God.

When things don’t go as planned, it can be easy to question God’s purpose. I am absolutely guilty of this at times…how about YOU? I don’t like trials, heartache, and difficulties, but we must remember that He sees what we can’t. His ways are higher than ours, and His plans are always for our good, even when they don’t make sense in the moment. Instead of resisting life’s difficulties, which can be tempting, we must push past that temptaion and lean into God’s sovereignty rather than our own understanding. Ask Him for wisdom, trust His timing, and know that He is a good, good Father, and is always at work.

Reflect today: Are you struggling to see God’s hand in your situation? Let’s strive to encourage one another to humbly ask Him to reveal His purpose and trust that He is working all things for good.

There’s JOY in the journey – nourishing body & soul…
