Daily Devotional

Scripture: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7

Devotional Thought:

Look at the front Photo. Do you see the jars of clay, the imperfect vessels? There is so much beauty in those old jars—shaped, formed, and then forged by fire to strengthen and prepare them for their purpose.

I love old crocks, jars, and anything antique. To me, the chips, cracks, and scratches are beautiful. If these jars of clay could talk, every crack, chip, scratch, and discoloration would tell a story.

Much like these jars of clay, we have a story to tell. We may feel a bit worse for wear some days. We have our bumps, bruises, scrapes, and scars—but those things, the stuff we work so hard to hide, actually tell a story—our story.

Those imperfections give us a testimony that, through Christ, can serve to help, encourage, warn, and strengthen someone else. Life is harsh, and we don’t get through it without some bumps and bruises.

But here’s the beautiful truth: what we see as brokenness, God sees as a testimony of His redeeming power.

From Shame to Glory

The mistakes seem to hang around our necks as symbols of shame and regret—but when our failures and scars are placed into the hands of the Potter, He transforms them into trophies of grace.

Like old, worn clay jars, we often see ourselves—or even others—as unworthy or unusable. But praise God, His ways are higher than ours!

In His hands, our scars become a testimony of healing.
Our past becomes proof of His redemption.
We are no longer bound by who we were, but set free by who we are in Christ.

Jesus rescues and delivers us so that we can bring glory to His name. Those scars—once reminders of pain—now speak of healing, hope, and victory to the hopeless.

Overcoming the Enemy’s Lies

Satan wants to weigh you down with guilt. He wants to use your past to silence you. But God has already declared victory over your life!

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast even more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9

When the enemy whispers shame, speak this truth out loud:

“It is the power of Christ that rests on me – not my past!”

The next time Satan tries to throw your past around your neck, remind him of his future and that you now stand redeemed, covered by the blood of Jesus.

Will You Walk in This Truth?

Will we live like we are set free?
Will we walk in the authority of Christ, empowered by humility and strength?
Will we surrender our weaknesses so that His power can shine through us?

We are, in Him, perfectly imperfect—by His touch, made complete—a glorious picture of His mercy.

Additional Devotional Scriptures for Reflection:

Isaiah 64:8 – “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”

Romans 8:1 – “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Genesis 50:20 – “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”

Blessings to YOU,
