Tell Me What You Want | An Encouraging Devotional
Daily Devotional
Scripture: “As a deer longs for flowing streams, so I long for You, God.”
— Psalm 42:1 (CSB)
Devotional: What Do You Want Most?
Take a moment and ask yourself: What do I truly want more than anything?
Not material things. Not a new job, a bigger house, or a better bank account. Deep down—what does your soul crave?
The world offers a never-ending buffet of distractions, temptations, and shiny things that pull our attention away from God. The enemy is a master of disguise, dressing up spiritual slop to look appealing. If we aren’t careful, we will begin to feast on fast food for our souls. These are quick fixes, temporary satisfactions, and empty distractions that leave us spiritually malnourished.
Are you feeling weary? Empty? Frustrated? Anxious? These are warning signs—God’s way of telling us that we’ve been filling up on the wrong things.
In Isaiah 61:3, God promises to trade our ashes for beauty, our sadness for joy, and our despair for praise. But we have to choose His table over the world’s trough. He longs to bathe us in His perfect love. He wants to saturate us in His peace. He desires to free us from the lies that deplete and destroy us.
So today, let this be your battle cry:
“Lord Jesus, don’t let me settle for less than You. Open my eyes to see where I have feasted on the world’s empty promises. Fill me with Your love, Your wisdom, and Your truth. I want nothing but the fullness of You.”
When we seek Him above all else, we will never be left empty.
Cross-Reference Passages for Further Study
📖 Isaiah 61:3 – To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
📖 Matthew 6:33 – But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.
📖 John 6:35 – Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.”
Prayer:
Father, I don’t want to settle for spiritual slop. I want more of You. Help me to desire You above all else and to recognize the enemy’s traps before I fall into them. Fill me with Your presence, Your wisdom, and Your peace. Satisfy my soul, Lord, as only You can. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings to YOU,
Cassandra Lee
