Trusting God When You Don’t Understand | Devotional(Proverbs 3:5-6)
Daily Devotional
Scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him. He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6
Have you ever begged God for clarity, only to feel like you were left in the dark? I know I have. I mean an ugly cry kind of cry. Maybe you prayed for open doors, but instead, every way forward seemed blocked. I know I have been there and done that!!! It’s in these moments that Proverbs 3:5-6 calls us to surrender—not just with words, but with our hearts. These are the times we need to lean on those everlasting arms and draw strength in his presence. We must learn to trust that he knows best. If we are surrendered to him, we won’t miss anything that is meant for us. That can be tough when we have our hearts set on something….BUT GOD!!!
Trusting God means letting go of the need to control, predict, or fully understand. We learn to release our grip on our plans, dreams, and ideas. We trust him to show us how to build our lives, like building blocks on that firm foundation. That’s tough because our natural instinct is to lean on our own reasoning. But Scripture reminds us that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). He sees the full picture when we only see a small part. He sees the end from the beginning and all we really need to do is rest in His sovereignty! To trust His authority and right to rule over his creation.
Think of Abraham. God told him to leave everything behind and go to an unknown land (Genesis 12:1). No map, no detailed plan—just faith. And yet, through Abraham’s obedience, God fulfilled His promise. The same is true for us. Trusting God often means stepping forward without all the answers. We believe He is faithful to lead. We let Him do so.
Are you facing uncertainty today? Instead of trying to figure it all out, lay it before God. Surrender your fears, your plans, and your questions at His feet. He is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11), and He will lead you exactly where you need to go.
Scriptures to Reflect On:
🔹 Romans 8:28 – “In all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.”
🔹 Psalm 37:23-24 – “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him.”
🔹 Isaiah 41:10 – “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.”
Blessings to YOU,
